Scythe course in Bradwell

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May we're holding a scythe course at Michlow Orchard. It's a two day course, so book now if you'd like to come along.

The scythe is lightweight, efficient and capable of dealing with nettles, brambles and weeds. The course will be led by Steve Tomlin, an experienced tutor. In a relaxed environment you will learn:

The background to the scythe & differences between the English and European models
How to set up the scythe to your size & adjust the blade
The ‘tai-chi’ mowing style for more efficient cutting and less stress on the body
Sharpening the scythe in the field
Peening the blade to create a razor edge
Care & maintenance of the scythe

The cost for the two days is just £90. There are only a couple of places left, so if you'd like to learn how to handle a scythe please drop Ellie a line at eleanor.dunn(at)hotmail.co.uk - just substitute @ for (at).

For more information, take a look at Steve Tomlin's website or contact Ellie.
