Stony soil was no obstacle to our youngest orchard worker who helped achieve tremendous progress with the soft fruit bed. 
We also did some more raking but after putting heart and soul into it for an hour we had to admit that the job was twice as difficult as last month because the the grass had grown and made a real tangle with the thatch of dead grass. Ellie also pruned the plums and cherries on Sunday, as these trees are best pruned after bud-burst.
