Historical Orchards
The Bradwell Historical Society invited the Group to attend their AGM/Project Meeting on 19 January. We took the opportunity to discuss with members of the Historical Society their memories of apple growing in and around the village. We also had the opportunity to look through the Society's archive which includes a copy of the original agreement between the Midland Railway and the landlord of the Bridge Inn. The land which forms Town Bottom Nursery, probably the most significant orchard/smallholding in the village for many years, belonged to the Bridge Inn. In due course we hope to add this knowledge to a "fruit map" of the village.
