The current focus of our activity is the preservation of an orchard which has stood alongside the Co-op food store in Bradwell for at least 50 years. This area of land lies within the Bradwell conservation area and contains a number of fruit trees, filbert nut trees and a mature walnut tree. It currently forms part of a larger planning application for the area which would see it grubbed out and replaced with houses and a parking area. We are hopeful that instead of this, the orchard could be preserved for everyone to enjoy. Public consultation on revised development plans (which still include the replacement of the orchard by housing) closes on 28 August and the application will then be determined by the Peak District National Park Authority.
